Before I break down my scoring, I have two icks with the track :

- I don't picture a boss theme while listening to this. In my opinion, it feels more like a first town/area theme.
- The melody is a bit too basic at times (around 01:18)

COMPOSITION WISE:

I think this is quite a creative track. I like the 5/4 time signature and the multiple key changes (e.g around 01:16), it gives a breath of fresh air to the track, which is much needed. However, like I said, this track works better as a first area theme imo. The only "boss sounding" part is around 01:59. I would picture this playing either in Zelda Wind Waker or A Hat In Time.

PRODUCTION WISE:

I think it's quite good ! The instruments have a good synergy with each other, they kind of give a silly vibe to the track (which I'm not too fond of for a boss theme, sadly).
For some reason, I really like the timpani in this track. It's present but isn't overly hearable, which I think is the perfect balance.

MIXING/MASTERING WISE :

The track sounds really busy at times. Since you went for an orchestral vibe, I would suggest you panning some instruments left and right (like the celesta/glockenspiel, I don't exactly know what you used there) and the bassoon. When the track switches to F, the flute and celesta seem to be almost TOO present, at the point where they drown the bassoon in the mix. I also feel like your cymbal hits are a bit weak, except for 01:59.

ACCURACY WISE:

I gave you the average. Like I've said, I don't actually feel like this is a boss theme apart from that one part I've mentioned. I really like this part, so I think you've racked a few more points thanks to that.

FINAL SCORE :

Composition : 8/10
Production : 6/10
Mixing/Mastering : 5/10
Accuracy : 8/15

Good job ! If only the track was a bit more serious, I would have liked it more. That was a nice track to listen to nonetheless ^^ Keep up the good work !

Oh wow I didn't expected to have a response so soon! Thanks for writing your thoughts throughout it made me understand your score better

This is a great track ! Like you said, the hopeful feel is present, as well as the "tense" part later on (around 02:47 if I remember correctly). The melody is nice, catchy, and it fits the song. I also liked the slight pitch glides at some parts, although I would just say that the lead is a bit too loud for my liking (but to be frank, that's subjective).

I also feel like the transition at 02:03 is a little weird. I get what you tried to do, this sort of stuttering effect, but it sounds a bit weird here.
As for the drums, I feel like you could have put some more variation in the patterns (maybe some double kicks or double snares) around 0:38 until 01:02. About the hi-hats at 03:25, I think they are also slightly too loud, but they're not as big as an issue.

Anyway, in terms of scoring :

Composition : 7,5/10
Production : 8/10
Mixing : 6,5/10
Accuracy : 9/15 (It feels a bit too happy sometimes, but the tense parts make up for it.)
Minigames : 2.5/5 (I've counted Piano, 8-Bit, Distorted Guitar, 3/4 and Key Change and Scary)
Overall score : 8,5/10 ^^
That was a fun track to listen to, don't hesitate to bug me if you have any questions !

BOOGERS!!!

Love it! Am I hearing a little bit of theRiser in that track? Anyway, I love the vibe of the track, it's really great!

EDIT : theRiser is a VST made by AIR Music Tech. and is used to create risers. One of the presets sounded similar, so I thought you used it.

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

Not sure what theRiser is? D:
Thanks for listening. <3

Ohhhh that's a really good track ! I really like the tape stop effect present throughout the song.
Maybe i'm just nitpicking, but imo the phone sound is a bit too loud. Also you should try panning things to add a wider dimension to your mix :)) Keep it up!

shletty responds:

thank you!!

me when amen break lol

Anyway that's a pretty good song overall. If I may just give you one advice, you should really improve your mixing, because the high freqs and the mid freqs are clashing between each others, so your song sounds muddy :/

But i'm very optimistic about the future of this track, notify me if you ever modify it to make it sound better :)

shletty responds:

you should listen to my other songs (they are a lot better & i made this very quickly)

This is a really solid piece of music you created here. My only issue here (maybe i'm nitpicking though) is the title. Doesn't sound like a "destruction" music to me.

One thing I love in this track ; THA BRASS. It fits seriously very well, wish i could include it in my tracks too ;-;
Keep up at it!

AndrewCr responds:

Thanks :)

I can't remember where I got the brass stab from, but I think it may be from KSHMR. I use the sample packs a lot

excuse me WHAT IS THIS BASS AT THE BEGINNING ? it sounds so good. I love the house vibe here, seriously. You're on a banger streak, keep it up ! My only concern is that you could have used more chords, but otherwise it slaps ‼️

AndrewCr responds:

Thanks! Happy you like it!

The bass on the start is a weird gritty thing made from a kick drum. That exists :D
I just looked up "gritty bass tutorial" etc. on Youtube and this popped up...

(note: if you want to use the bass, i gotta warn you. it has almost no bass frequencies on its own, but you can highpass and layer it)

This song is very relaxing! But I would like the clap to have some reverb or delay, it could help with the dreamy atmospheric of it. Good job tho !

Aaexx responds:

thx really appreciate your feedback!

UPD: added slight reverb

i like the chill and weird vibe of it. I especially like the drums, with the reversed snare hitting before the clap. Great job 👍

Sharkcrome responds:

Omg my first commenter :O
Tnx a lot 💜

So sorry I didn't listened to it earlier, I was just busy with stuff

Another season entry ! This is making me nostalgic for some reason, you made an amazing job. Seriously. Deserved 5/5.

AndrewCr responds:

Thanks so much, I worked RELATIVELY hard on this

And yeah, the piano sample is really nostalgic. I think it's from KSHMR but it also could be Cymatics... One of these. Definitely.

P.S.: Also don't worry, being busy is not a thing you should apologize about :)
